Currently Cloud Architect at the Office of the Chief Information Officer in Newfoundland and Labrador, working on Azure deployment and cloud security for the provincial government. Ocer thirty years in IT, roughly the last ten of them cloud-focused.

Before this

Senior advisor and security engineer in ESDC’s Benefits Delivery Modernization programme, supported the rollout of Old Age Security and Employment Insurance Benefits Estimator. Prior, acting director in Shared Services Canada’s Cloud Directorate, where I founded the Cloud Centre of Excellence. Earlier still, Networking and Security for Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

What I work on

• Azure Architecture - application migration and deployment
• Azure security posture — Private Endpoints, Defender for Cloud, Sentinel
• DevSecOps pipelines — vulnerability remediation using SAST, DAST and SCA in Azure DevOps and GitHub
• Infrastructure as code with Bicep and (to a lesser degree) Terraform

Outside the day job

Founder at Exploits Bay Cyber Corp. Intent is to use Claude Code and Desktop to build workflow and applications; and to help clients build their own. The day job serves internal clients and Exploits Bay intends to help people doing this work anywhere. See projects.

Credentials

Masters in Technology Management, Degree in Computer Science (minor), Diploma in Business Administration - from Memorial University; certificate in Cloud Strategy from York University. Certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft AI Engineer Associate, ICS2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
